Emerging research suggests that passive AI use can reduce the critical and creative thinking we bring to our work. The costs are already showing up: unchecked errors, generic ideas, and polished AI output that someone downstream has to rethink. Yet as Marcus Aurelius observed nearly 2,000 years ago, “What stands in the way becomes the way.” The same technology that can short-circuit our thinking can also be used to sharpen it. In this workshop, we pair ancient thinkers with modern researchers, from Sun Tzu to Daniel Kahneman, to build the habits of deliberate AI users: thinking before, during, and after AI interactions, each practiced live on a real work challenge. Participants leave with better results from AI exchanges and a new mental operating system that turns AI from an answer machine into a thinking partner.
